Why Live in Sunsites

Sunsites in southeastern Arizona is a small community originally developed as a retirement community in the Chihuahuan Desert. It’s known for its warm weather and scenic mountain views. Housing options include townhomes and ranch-style homes, many built in the 1960s and '70s, featuring spacious yards with dirt or gravel typical of the desert landscape. The area is also close to farming and ranching opportunities, with U.S. Highway 191 as the main route in and out.

Pearce Elementary and Valley Union High serve local students. For things to do, residents can explore the Dragoon Mountains, about 15 miles west, offering hiking trails and historical sites, or venture 35 miles east to the Chiricahua Mountains, home to the Chiricahua National Monument with its striking rock formations. The community's commercial district on Frontage Road includes TJ’s Bar & Grill, Talking Irons Coffee Saloon, Apache Hardware and Dollar General. For a bigger grocery run, the nearest Safeway is about 25 miles north.

Evelyn Williams Memorial Park hosts the Pearce Wine Festival in October, while the nearby Willcox Wine Festival attracts visitors with its extensive vineyard participation.
