Swartz Creek is a small city and semi-rural suburb, about 9 miles northwest of Flint. The population is about 5,900, according to U.S. Census estimates. The community's close-knit nature fits with its slogan, "Where Friendships Last Forever." "It's such a wholesome place to grow up. Others are moving here for the first time. "Swartz Creek was pretty quiet before, but as bigger cities become more saturated, people are moving out here because of the land. Some of what were farmlands are becoming subdivisions," Champlin says.
