Terre Town is an established neighborhood that’s getting new life thanks to a push for more housing in Terre Haute. While much of the neighborhood dates back to the 1950s, new builds are cropping up north of Haythorne Avenue. “Terre Town was sitting there forever and was old farm ground that wasn’t being used,” says Carrie Smith, a Realtor with Gibson Real Estate and Terre Haute resident. The renewed interest in the area, paired with the construction of two new subdivisions, “is really lifting the neighborhood up, and people are taking pride in their properties.” Most of the neighborhood is populated with midcentury cottages, bungalows, ranch-style homes and the occasional farmhouse on large lots.
