Dover Beaches North is a collection of small coastal communities with residents-only beaches on the Jersey Shore, just north of Lavallette. The community is subdivided into areas like Normandy Beach and Chadwick Beach, all of which have shared amenities and private ocean access. Being 3 miles north of the tourist-friendly Seaside Heights gives Dover Beaches North a quieter feel, but Lavallette’s shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Justin Bosak, a broker and owner with Re/Max Revolution who’s sold homes in the area for 22 years, says that while Dover Beaches North has a Lavallette mailing address, it’s actually part of Toms River. “It’s really odd how they set it up,” he says. “In Lavallette proper, the taxes are a little bit cheaper. Lavallette has its own mayor, council and police force, whereas Dover Beaches North uses Toms River’s.
