Ventura, California is located along the Pacific coast, between two other well-known cities,Santa BarbaraandMalibu. The city calls itself one of America’s most livable cities, because of its climate, recreation and amenities. The housing market in Ventura is relatively strong. Prices continue to rise in the area but home sales are slowing. New home construction continues with new communities being built throughout Ventura.
There are several neighborhoods in Ventura that offer high quality living. Pierpont is a beachside community with upscale single family homes, many with dock points for easy access to the ocean and nearby islands. It is geographically near the middle of the Ventura coast. Midtown is another neighborhood with a lot of amenities like restaurants and hospitals. Housing in the neighborhood includes single family homes, townhomes and condominiums. The east end offers spacious yards and many single family homes, with easy access to outdoor recreation. It is also the agricultural hub of the city. The Westside neighborhood is along the coast, between Ventura River and Ventura Hills. It is a booming art hub for the city and is known for its delicious Mexican food. New condominium communities are under construction in Ventura’s Westside, offering access to local trails and the ability to walk to the beach. Other new communities include multi- and single family homes on the east side of Ventura.
Ventura is located only 30 minutes outsideLos Angeles, with many employment opportunities nearby, but it is also the home of several area hospitals and 5 colleges and universities, adding to its local economy and the available jobs within the city. The largest employers in the area are the County of Ventura, Ventura County Health Care Agency, and the Ventura Unified School District. The city also recently developed the Ventura Ventures Technology Center to increase high tech jobs in the area.
