West Nyack is an unassuming suburb on the west side of the Hudson River. Despite lacking a direct train line to New York City, it draws people who commute to Manhattan. “It’s about a 25-minute drive, maybe a little less, to get to the George Washington Bridge in Manhattan,” says Glenda Koda, an associate real estate broker at Howard Hanna Rand Realty. She’s lived in West Nyack for over 20 years and spent years making the commute into the city for work. “So it’s a bedroom community, but the prices are less than they would be if somebody were buying a home in Westchester County, which is a little bit more expensive.”
Aside from its prices and proximity to the city, West Nyack is perhaps best known for the Palisades Center, which is among America’s biggest malls.
