Suburban comfort near Salt Lake City
Set 5 miles south of downtown Salt Lake City, Chesterfield is a blend of suburban comfort and urban perks like public transportation, event venues and local businesses. “It’s conveniently located off of freeway access, and it’s close to amenities like the Maverik Center and Decker Lake,” says Justin Udy, a Realtor with Century 21 Real Estate and over 20 years of experience. “That area has a ton of local shops and businesses all along Route 68. It’s like the mecca of self-employed small businesses, from little taquerias to all sorts of things,” says Udy. “Most of the time, people that come to visit or move here are actually surprised by the diversity we have,” says Vhanessa Lee, a Realtor with Unity Real Estate and over 5 years of experience. Chesterfield receives a CAP Index Crime Score of 6 out of 10, higher than the national average of 4, and nearby houses of worship include Khadeeja Islamic Center, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and First Apostolic Church.

Mid-to-late-century single-family homes, contemporary townhouses and mobile homes
“It’s one of the older communities in the area,” says Udy. “The average home here is below the median price of Salt Lake County,” says Udy. “Salt Lake County is running around $550,000, and these ones are $400,000.” Homes here are typically from the mid-to-late century, with most ranging between $300,000 and $500,000. “They are decent-sized properties for first-time homebuyers.” Single-family homes are typically mid-to-late-century ramblers with grass lawns and up to three bedrooms in sidewalk-lined subdivisions dotted with mature trees, while townhouses with attached garages are typically from the 2000s and a part of homeowners associations, like the gated Red Oaks Village. Late-century manufactured and mobile homes in the 55+ American Heritage Retirement Community go from $50,000 to over $100,000; these homes are often pastel-painted with two bedrooms and a carport.

“You are close to downtown Salt Lake,” says Udy. Route 68 is the neighborhood’s main thoroughfare, but Interstate 215 is also nearby; Salt Lake City is 5 miles away or a 10- to 20-minute drive, depending on traffic.
