The residential streets of Ladera West are tucked between the sprawling Ladera Golf Course to the east and the National Park Service-maintained Petroglyph National Monument to the west, where symbols and designs carved by Indigenous Peoples and Spanish settlers are preserved in volcanic rock. “When the weather is good, there are a lot of people out there,” says Alex Cordova, the team lead for eXp Realty, referring to the national park. “Whether they are considering or moving to Albuquerque, people always ask where the good hiking trails are.” Ladera West is close to several trails that lead into the Petroglyph National Monument, though the neighborhood has several green spaces of its own as well. Rinconada Point Park has a pickleball court, a basketball court, workout equipment and a sandy playground. The Ouray Dog Park features an obstacle course and separate spaces for small and larger breeds.
