The Los Volcanes neighborhood of western Albuquerque is located between some of the most widely used thoroughfares in town. “There are two major highways in town, and one is within two to three minutes of the neighborhood,” says Anthony Martinez, a Realtor and sales manager for The Maez Group. “You can get anywhere in the state. It’s convenient if you work in the east side, Rio Rancho or even down toward Los Lunas.” In addition to commuters, several industrial employers—like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola and other major food and beverage distributors—benefit from access to Interstate 40 and other regional highways. Residential pockets, community athletic centers and restaurants are sprinkled throughout Los Volcanes as well. Interstate 40 travels toward downtown Albuquerque—about 5 miles away—and traverses the entire state from east to west. On the neighborhood’s west side, New Mexico state Route 345 connects to other western suburbs of Albuquerque and other, larger thoroughfares. Coors Boulevard runs alongside the neighborhood as well and converges with Central Avenue, which connects to downtown
