Glencarlyn Homes for Sale

Glencarlyn is the oldest neighborhood in Arlington, with a grid-style layout and tall trees that reflect its long history. The Ball-Sellers House, dating to the mid-18th century, is open for tours on Saturdays from April through October, and a section of the neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places. Home styles span more than a century, from Queen Anne and Colonial Revival to Cape Cod, ranch style and newer New Traditional homes with gabled roofs. Community life centers on the Glencarlyn Civic Association, which organizes the two-day Glencarlyn Days festival each June and the Annual Glencarlyn Luminaria in December.

Glencarlyn Park, Arlington's oldest at 100 acres, has Four Mile Run Trail, a renovated playground, an off-leash dog area and the Long Branch Nature Center. Nearby Bluemont Park adds athletic fields, a disc golf course and tennis and basketball courts. Dining options close by include Ethiopian, Thai, Indian, Nepali and Afghan restaurants, with major retailers such as Target, Trader Joe's and The Home Depot in the Seven Corners and Bailey's Crossroads areas. Arlington Boulevard connects residents to the rest of the region. Glencarlyn sits roughly 6 miles from Washington, D.C. Arlington Transit and Metrobus routes also run through the area.

The highly rated Arlington Public Schools system serves Glencarlyn. Carlin Springs Elementary and Kenmore Middle School are both within walking distance for many residents and offer extended-day programs, and Campbell Elementary operates as a choice school for kindergarten through fifth grade with a project-based learning approach.
