West Cascade is an Atlanta neighborhood on the rise. For most of its history, this community of around 1,600 was just 600 acres of unincorporated land in Fulton County. But after residents rallied for annexation in 2006, West Cascade became an officially recognized neighborhood with a new park, ponds and street marker. “We are a hidden gem,” says David Getachew-Smith, a local resident and chairperson of the neighborhood planning unit. "It's a thriving community for raising kids." Residential properties are divided into three cul-de-sac clusters along Danforth Road, which serves as the main entry route into the neighborhood. Most brick and stucco houses are nearly 3,000 square feet with large lots and two-to-three stories. Colonial and contemporary houses range between $250,000 and $500,000, while most traditional houses range between $350,000 and $900,000. A few modern mansions on the northern edge are valued between $2 million and $2.5 million. West Cascade’s school pipeline starts at Fickett Elementary, which is 4 miles south and earned a C on Niche.
