Residential streets with outdoor retreats
The word “exposition” might trigger images of large conference halls and a sea of crowds, but the community’s name comes from its main attraction — Expo Park, a 57-acre green space rich with amenities. “Expo Park is within the overarching subdivision of Queensborough, built between 1970 and 1972, and it’s right next to Aurora’s largest park. Expo Park was kind of the answer to the development of Denver’s Washington Park,” says Dan Bloomquist, associate broker with RE/MAX Realty, who has over 50 years of experience in the industry and has sold homes in the area since its inception in the ‘70s. “Yet the huge draw to the area is the Cherry Creek School District. It’s hard to find homes under $500,000 within that district. So great schools, affordable homes and the location are really some of the biggest benefits,” Bloomquist says.
Expo Park is a great choice with its plethora of outdoor attractions and great schools.

Condos, townhouses and 1970s single-family homes
Traditional suburban homes from the 1970s, townhouses and low-rise condominiums within walking distance of the park make up most of Expo Park’s housing inventory. Modest ranch-style dwellings make great starter homes, while Bi-Level and Split-Levels offer room to grow. Condos in the area typically range from the low $100,000s to the upper $200,000s for a two-bedroom unit with modern updates. The median sales price for a single-family home hovers around $484,000, with home prices ranging from the low $300,000s to the upper $500,000s for a renovated, three-bedroom Split-Level.
Ranch style homes are common in Expo Park.

Hikes along the High Line Canal Trail
Expo Park’s 18-hole disc golf course, one of only two in Aurora, draws amateurs and enthusiasts alike. At the same time, its connections to the High Line Canal Trail and Westerly Creek Trail provide scenic routes for bikers and runners along two ponds. In addition to its diverse athletic fields for baseball, basketball, football and tennis, the Expo Recreation Center hosts programs like Aurora Cooks and Aurora Dance Arts. Expo Park is also adjacent to two of Aurora’s most popular golf courses — Aurora Hills, which is open to the public, and CommonGround, a private course designed by famous golf architect Tom Doak.

Shopping on South Havana Street
Major shopping and dining options are scattered along South Havana Street, just outside the neighborhood’s borders. The Gardens on Havana features major retailers like Target, Starbucks, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Sprouts Farmers Market for organic produce. Locals can also grab groceries at the neighboring King Soopers or Costco Wholesale, while those looking for some retail therapy can head to the Town Center at Aurora shopping mall. For a bite to eat, Taz Indian Restaurant serves up steaming hot plates of curry, while Fat Boy’s Bar and Grill draws crowds of Broncos fans looking to watch the game with a cold beer and plate of barbecue ribs.
Target is only one option for groceries in Expo Park.
Expo Park residents have plenty of retail options close by.

Annual events in Aurora
Although locals can always head to downtown Denver for a night of entertainment, the City of Aurora also hosts various annual events, such as Carnival on the Plaza. Every summer, a short drive leads residents to the echoing sounds and vibrant landscape of Fletcher Plaza, full of carnival rides, games, and fun. However, the season’s biggest event is the annual Arapahoe County Fair, featuring live music, rides, 4-H competitions and more.
Downtown commutes on the light rail
Expo Park residents have a range of public transit options at their doorstep. Bordering thoroughfares like East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street offer a range of bus stops. At the same time, a 3 mile drive leads to the Aurora Metro Center Station for commuters heading into Denver. Other nearby roads include South Havana Street, Interstate 225 and US Route 83 for regional travel. Jetsetters looking for a bigger adventure can head to Denver International Airport. “Locals have easy access to downtown. 225 is west of the neighborhood, while the hospital is right there as well. Everything you really need is right there,” Bloomquist says, with The Medical Center of Aurora just 2 miles away.
Getting to Downtown Denver on the light rail is a snap from Expo Park.
The Aurora Metro Center Station serves as the Park N Ride for Expo Park.
