Wooded oasis near hiking, shopping and dining
Despite being bordered by MoPac to the east, Highway 183 to the north and Capital of Texas Highway to the west, the Westover Hills neighborhood of Austin is a wooded oasis where mature live oak trees outnumber the comfortable homes that line the quiet streets. And while there are many ways describe this sought-after neighborhood, the best way is to say it's uniquely Austin, possessing that indefinable quality that makes the city matter so much to so many people.

Steck Valley Greenbelt is a hidden treasure in Austin, Texas.
No great distance to the great outdoors
Given that Austin is such an outdoor-friendly city, the fact that Westover Hills is surrounded by natural splendor is one reason it reflects the city's character. Whitetail deer roam freely throughout the area, and both Steck Valley Greenbelt and Bull Creek Greenbelt can be found at the neighborhood’s western edge. Both parks provide miles of hiking trails and opportunities for observing wildlife. And because both greenbelts and much of the additional land west of Capital of Texas Highway fall under the protection of the Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan, nature lovers can rest easy knowing that the undeveloped areas will remain so and will always be there for those times when communing with nature and enjoying the outdoors is part of a day’s plan.
Comfortable homes in a variety of styles
The area was developed starting in the 1960s, and the architectural styles in the area also lend a sense of Austin ethos to the neighborhood. A three-bedroom/two-bathroom ranch-style home built in the mid-1960s can list for just over $500,000, and a newly renovated five-bedroom/four-bathroom Cape Cod can sell for up to $1.75 million.
