Connectivity and community in a western Chicago suburb
As a neighborhood in the western suburbs of Chicago, Bensenville’s community resources and proximity to public transportation offer a convenient, well-connected lifestyle. “There are a lot of community organizations and support for families. The high school has great programs, and there’s daycare at the elementary school for young children during the summer, which is a great resource for families with kids,” says Eva Sanchez, Broker/ Realtor with @properties Christie's International Real Estate who has served the western Chicago suburbs for 26 years. “It’s in high demand since it’s a beautiful, centrally located community. It’s about 25 minutes to downtown Chicago.” Peppered with public parks, residents enjoy green space and recreation, while the neighborhood’s main streets offer walkability.

Many restaurants and amenities are located on Green Street, like Los Bueno Díaz Mexican Grill, which serves upscale Mexican dishes and margaritas. “Green Street Grille is one of my favorite restaurants there, and it has live music on Fridays,” Sanchez says. Closer to the residential area of the neighborhood is Mamma Maria's Pizzeria and Ristorante, which serves pizza and Italian fare. Residents can head to La Huerta Super Mercado or Jewel-Osco to shop for groceries and everyday essentials. There are a couple of local retailers on Green Street, but most head out of the neighborhood to shop, and the closest collection of stores is at the Woodfield Mall, 10 miles northwest of Bensenville.

Summer concerts and holiday festivities downtown
“The downtown area has a theater that’s getting renovated, and there are really fun summer concerts every week. I usually end up going to most of them since I live in a neighboring community,” Sanchez says. Bensenville hosts other community gatherings, like the July 4th LibertyFest, which features a parade, music and food vendors. October brings the elaborate Wilkes Family Halloween Display, and November has a holiday parade and tree lighting downtown.

The neighborhood is predominately made up of single-family properties, but some two-bedroom units in condos built in the 1970s are priced around $170,000. Buyers can find 1950s ranches and bungalows priced between $240,000 and $360,000, while American Foursquare properties from the early 20th century cost about $400,000. Bensenville is located just minutes away from O'Hare International Airport.
Air traffic is common in Bensenville
Industrial warehouses occupy a large portion of the border between Bensenville and the airport within the northern section of the neighborhood. Proximity to the O’Hare International Airport means that residents should be prepared to see — and hear — planes as they travel overhead. “Most of the neighborhood isn’t really affected by the airport, but there is a section of the neighborhood where the landing path is over the houses, so people should avoid that part if they don’t want the noise,” Sanchez says.
