Nearby East Lake Park offers fishing, tennis, and scenic trails around its lake, providing a picturesque spot for picnics and evening strolls.

Kingston's population had declined, leading to the closure of schools and businesses, but efforts to address these challenges are ongoing. The neighborhood is served by Dupuy Alternative School, Hayes K-8 School, and Woodlawn High School. To combat the area's food desert status, Live HealthSmart Alabama introduced a Mobile Market, offering healthy and affordable food options weekly. While Kingston has limited dining options, residents can easily access popular eateries in nearby Woodlawn and Avondale, such as Sammy's Sandwich Shop and SluttyVegan, as well as Cahaba Brewing Company in East Avondale.
