Recently renovated Rose District

Downtown Broken Arrow, also known as the Rose District, is known as such for its plentiful rose bushes, planted by its residents in the early 1900s. The name continues, as does the sense of community. Downtown Broken Arrow recently underwent a renovation to better accommodate pedestrians with fewer traffic lanes, wider sidewalks, crosswalks and comprehensive landscaping. The city of Broken Arrow immortalizes its roots as a Muscogee Nation settlement through murals and commemorative statues such as Carlos Barboza’s “A City in Bloom” mural adorning the side of The Museum Broken Arrow. Broken Arrow provides its residents with entertainment and activities not only through the updated downtown area but also through the Central Park Community Center, which provides “a free facility for community use and monthly events for friends and family,” says Michael Wood, the recreation assistant with the Central Park Community Center. “Although we offer family-related activities, we have a wide variety of participants.” Broken Arrow has seen a large amount of growth over the years due to its updated renovations, and the area is a gathering place for people of all ages.

Broken Arrow Brewing Co. and Magnolia Soap

Within a brick building that served as everything from a bank to a college is the Main Street Tavern, serving tavern-style meals such as buffalo wings and classic sandwiches. A Native American-owned and operated local institution, the Broken Arrow Brewing Co. was the first brewery in Broken Arrow and serves ten beers on tap. One of the most popular is the Day Drinker. Magnolia Soap & Bath Co uses domestically sourced ingredients to make soaps, laundry detergents, shampoo bars and other self-care essentials. For popular retailers, grocers and chain restaurants, locals stop by the shops lining East Kenosha Street and County Line Shopping Center.
