A charming condo in Forest Hills with old-world charm
Sandwiched on a corner between 67th Road and Booth Street, 100-10 67 Road is a prewar condo located in a quiet pocket of Forest Hills just off the main drag of Queens Boulevard. The building was designed around a central front and back courtyard to provide ample daylight and ventilation. Clad in red brick, the design was completed in 1941 and features bygone construction, including solid-core wood doors, oak plank hardwood flooring, poured concrete underlayment and thick plaster walls for sound absorption. The six-story development houses 64 residences split into two wings, featuring spacious layouts with ample windows in each room. As of October 2024, listings start at $439,000 for a one-bedroom with $517 in common charges.
Preserved decorative architectural detailing, including crown molding and brass-plated fixtures
Prewar-designed floorplans are spacious and elegant, with old-world touches, including salon-like foyers, 10-foot-high ceilings and ample deep closets. Here and there, some units have unique characteristics, like private entrances, cathedral ceilings, built-in bookcases and arched doorways. Many apartments have hardwood flooring and split floor plans, galley-style kitchens with formal dining rooms, and some with walk-in pantries. The building is pet-friendly and has a sizable front lawn that dogs can make good use of, too.
The residences feature sizable floorplans, ranging from studios to three bedrooms. A few studios exist, averaging 675 square feet; the last sale for one closed at $280,000 in July 2022. One- and two-bedrooms are more common, spanning from 680 to 930 square feet and 700 to 1,200 square feet, respectively. A one-bedroom on the sixth floor with a partially renovated kitchen featuring new appliances and a breakfast nook sold for $489,000 in September 2024. Similarly, a 1,085-square-foot two-bedroom with an oversized living room outfitted with French doors netted $715,000 in July 2024. One of the grandest listings, a ground-floor three-bedroom with a private street entrance and a small office, closed at $958,000 in November 2020.
Basic amenities include a newly renovated laundry room
The prewar elevator building has a live-in super and part-time maintenance staff. The amenities are basic. According to countless listings on Homes.com, the common areas are famously “well-kept,” featuring mirror-paneled walls, wide hallways and a stone-tiled stairway. Locked mailboxes and bench seating are in the lobby. On the lower level, residents can find the newly renovated laundry room stocked with industrial-grade washers and dryers; there’s even a space with folding tables near the dryers. Plus, while it may not be an amenity per se, the neighborhood is known for having easily accessible street parking.
A centrally located Queens neighborhood with lush lawns and stunning Tudor architecture
Forest Hills is the best of both worlds; it’s suburbia, but in the city. This oxymoronic makeup consists of residential side streets with lush lawns juxtaposed with bustling avenues with chain stores, mom-and-pop shops and a hodgepodge of restaurants. Queens Boulevard bisects the neighborhood, offering two kinds of living: urban apartment developments on one side and Tudor-style houses in the private development known as Forest Hills Gardens (which, arguably, has some of the most stunning architecture in New York) on the other. The housing typologies are diverse, ranging from prewar cooperatives to wood-frame, single-family homes to colonial mansions. Meanwhile, this centrally located Queens neighborhood is also known for its many green spaces, including Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and Forest Park; both have running tracks, dog parks, basketball courts, baseball fields and skateparks. (Forest Park also has a nine-hole public golf course.) Plus, the neighborhood has a tennis tradition, thanks to Forest Hills Stadium hosting the U.S. Open until 1978. The area’s West Side Tennis Club and both public parks are outfitted with immaculate grass courts.
Fewer than two blocks from 67th Avenue Station
Residents can walk to the 67th Avenue Station on Queens Boulevard in under 5 minutes, which provides access to the M and R lines. Another option is the LIRR Forrest Hills station, 3/4 of a mile west. Furthermore, living just off Queens Boulevard makes car travel convenient with the Long Island Expressway, Grand Central Parkway, Jackie Robinson Parkway and Van Wyck Expressway nearby. Commuting to Midtown isn’t too bad, but downtown Manhattan can be a bit of schlep.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
