Convenient location in Queens
Located in Forest Hills near the edge of Rego Park, 62-59 108th St. is a postwar co-op with six stories and 114 units.
Built in 1959, the brick building features terraces, a mirrored lobby area accessible by an intercom system, laundry facilities in the building and elevators. The front of the building is neatly manicured with evergreen hedges.
The beauty of this cooperative complex is that it is close to so many attractions, says Bruce Eaton, an associate broker at Corcoran Group who lives in Forest Hills.
“You can see the LIE and Rego Park, get to the Grand Central Parkway,” he says.
Indeed, the building is in a neighborhood located just a short distance between highways and public transportation. It’s also close to restaurants and shopping, Eaton notes.
Value in Forest Hills
What buyers get in this building is value, Eaton says. In December 2024, there were two two-bedroom units on the market for $330,000 and $389,000. Both are 900 square feet. Pricing is often dependent on condition and the higher-priced unit has a new kitchen with white cabinetry and refinished hardwood flooring.
There are also studios and one-bedroom apartments, with recent listings between $180,000 and $300,000
There is a superintendent on site.
There are amenities in some units in this postwar building that are not found in many prewar buildings, such as larger closets and balconies, Eaton adds.
Buyers priced out of trendier parts of Brooklyn such as Williamsburg or Greenpoint or Long Island City in Queens look to Rego Park and Forest Hills for real estate, the agent adds.
Shopping and nightlife
There are several smaller grocers nearby such as Eden Farm and R& M Glatt Supermarket. For shopping, the Queens Center Shopping Mall, is about a five-minute drive; it is filled with trendy stores like Zara and Steve Madden, as well as traditional stores such as JCPenney for family shopping. The regional mall is also a gathering spot for food and drink. Bonchon is known for its double fried chicken, while Gong Cha and Tiger Sugar offer popular boba or milk tea drinks.
Austin Street is a where many Forest Hills hang out for restaurants and bars. For the nature lover, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park is nearby with nature trails and green space.
A garden community near transportation
For commuting to Manhattan, Queens and other boroughs, the 67th Avenue subway stop is 11 blocks away with access to E, M and R trains. Bus lines QM12, QM42 and Q23 are near the building. The LIE and Grand Central enable easy access in and out of Queens.
Forest Hills takes its name from its own Forest Park, green space surveyed and partially developed in 1895 by Frederick Law Olmsted, who is also responsible for the development of Central Park and Prospect Park. Olmsted’s son — Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. — helped develop the planned community of Forest Hills Gardens in 1909 and was inspired by the so-called garden city movement in England at the time.
Like Jackson Heights, Forest Hills during the early 1900s was being developed into a garden community, with Manhattanites looking for more green space in Queens, explains Eaton, who is also a history buff. Beyond the mid-rise buildings, there are many residential streets in Forest Hills neighborhoods and Tudor-style homes that evoke old-world charm in a busy suburban setting.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
