New, fully amenitized and sustainable condo in the center of Woodside

“The majority of new development condos that are going up throughout the vast swathes of Brooklyn and Queens are often situated on less desirable plots of land — small gas stations or derelict warehouses,” notes Jerry Minsky, a real estate broker with Douglas Elliman. “Unlike prewar co-ops that have generous space, residences in these buildings tend to be much more compact.” There are a few exceptions to the rule, however. Take the Arcadia Woodside, a 2023-built luxury condo covers the majority of a large triangular block in Queens. This expansive address features deep setbacks that anchor sizable private terraces adjoining a good portion of its 76 larger-than-average one- and two-bedroom units. Designed by MY Architects PC — a firm known for constructing mid-rises throughout the borough — this seven-story red brick and metal panel-clad residence contains a full suite of amenities and benefits from multiple solid transportation links nearby.

A collection of common areas directly powered by solar panels on the roof and 60 on-site EV-powered parking spots adds to this property’s reduced carbon footprint and future-forward appeal. Interior staging firm Hue Design outfitted these spaces with a subdued earth-tone palette of finishes but also a peppering of boldly colored iconic midcentury modern furnishings. “We resolutely dedicated ourselves to the art of creating an intelligent design for this project that resonates across a wide spectrum of lifestyles,” studio founder Bella Zhang states on its website. The units themselves are rendered in a similar aesthetic with oversized black-trim casement windows flooding these crisp, minimalist yet warm spaces with tons of natural light.

Cleverly laid-out and tech-forward residences; many with large private terraces

All units feature clean-lined two-tone oak cabinetry kitchens with premium stainless steel Bosch appliances and Dekton quartz countertops. In-unit smart LG washer/dryers are also the norm across the building. Bathrooms are finished in Porcelanosa ARTIC tile walls and Liem Black tile floors. Toto one-piece elongated chair height toilets are joined by stone composite vanities, top-line Kohler bathtubs, Grohe fixtures and custom LED-backlit medicine cabinets. Central air, lighting and other integrated technologies are controlled through Amazon Alexa Echo Hub touchpads. There’s also keyless access. High-end Dormakaba hardware features throughout. Unlike other new- build condos where developers tend to skimp or mislead on the quality of finishes, no detail was overlooked at Arcadia Woodside and yet its homes are competitively priced when considering the proximity to Midtown Manhattan but higher than the norm in the area.

While one-bedrooms range from $650,000 to $850,000, depending on square footage and position in the building, two-bedrooms fetch between $900,000 and $1.2 million. Numerous units feature terraces that almost double the amount of the cleverly laid-out space inside and on top floors, and frame western exposure views of the New York skyline. While unit 7D has 838-square-feet of interior space, its sprawling sundeck covers another 737 square feet and comes with a built-in grill. The few residences that don’t have private outdoor space benefit from a less crowded shared rooftop.

A Technogym fitness center and EV-charging equipped parking

Residents enter Arcadia Woodside through a sleek recessed light and stone-clad lobby also rendered in midtone oak panels and helmed by full-time door attendants. Concierges are also on hand during the day. Off to the right, there’s a seamlessly outfitted residence lounge with ample seating, a kitchenette and game tables. To the left is the well-equipped fitness center with Technogym treadmills, stationary bikes, free weights and other devices. The elevated courtyard toward the rear of the elevator bay incorporates a putting green. Below, a bike storage room leads into a 60-car garage with EV-charger-equipped deeded parking spots.

Reliable road and rail links nearby

For residents who keep cars onsite and like to get out of the town from time to time, there’s an onramp to the Brooklyn Queens Expressway at 37th Street. Arcadia Woodside is a block away from the 7-train served 61st Street-Woodside subway station, which sits atop the Woodside Long Island Rail Road station. The commute to Midtown Manhattan or Jamaica Station, in either direction, takes under half-an-hour. The latter has direct connections to multiple parts of Long Island and is also the terminus for the JFK Airport AirTrain. Also stopping at the 61st Street-Woodside transit hub is the Q70 bus, which gets residents to LaGuardia Airport in 20 minutes.

Central Queens’ thriving food scene but also popular haunts in the immediate vicinity

While Northern Boulevard, running through Astoria and Jackson Heights neighborhoods to the north, is lined with hundreds of renowned restaurants — a food scene that is as abundant as it is culturally diverse — there are also several locally beloved haunts in Arcadia Woodside’s immediate vicinity. While elevated Irish pub Sean Og’s is right around the corner, F. Ottomanelli serves up gourmet burgers and Belgian fries. Pollos Mario is a Colombian staple. There’s a Met Fresh Marketplace grocery store three blocks up Woodside Avenue and an H Mart right across the street. Nearby, Doughboy Plaza is a quaint park and war memorial with walking paths that lead to the Lawarence Virgilio Playground and Skating Evolution roller rink.
