Brick midrise co-op in Forest Hills

Residents of The Joylane, a center entrance colonial co-op in Forest Hills, enter via a brick walkway --- edged by lawns and a wrought-iron fence --- and a portico flanked by circular windows. The brick extends to the facade of the six-story, 1940 brick building with 60 units, and landscaped gardens complement the tall white columns that stand tall at the entry. Located just one block from Queens Boulevard, the mid-block building co –op is on a tree-lined street blocks from Flushing Meadows Corona Park and shopping and dining on Austin Street. “It is in a great location and the apartments are sizable for their selling prices,” Bruce Eaton, an associate real estate broker at Corcoran Group and a Forest Hills specialist, says of The Joylane.

The lobby features all the charm of yesteryear with moldings and an antique chandelier. There is a laundry room on-site and an elevator. A live-in superintendent addresses the tenants’ needs. There is parking available on the premises for an additional fee. The Joylane offers one- and two-bedroom layouts. The most recently sold unit was a 900-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath residence at $325,000 in September 2024.? Period details include arched doorways, high ceilings, hardwood floors and large rooms to give a bit spacious feel. Built-in shelves are prevalent for storage. Crown molding offer contrast, and the bathrooms have separate showers and bathtubs. The layout is open with enough space to add a home office in the living area. Many of the living rooms are sunken—a prewar architectural feature. A foyer leads to the galley kitchen, with cabinetry on both sides.
