Burleson, a historic railroad town south of Fort Worth, blends city living with small-town connections, where you're still likely to run into someone you know. Lower home prices and notable neighborhoods in Burleson
The median single-family home price hovers in the mid-300,000s, lower than the U.S. and Dallas and on par with Fort Worth. "Like many areas, Burleson has experienced a surge in housing demand, but new developments are helping meet the needs of residents," says DeAnna Phillips, community services director with the city. Oak Valley Estates, an HOA neighborhood, features tree-lined streets with one- and two-story New Traditional homes. Inclusive master-planned communities like the Parks at Panchasarp Farms are also being built here, with new construction properties and shared amenities, such as pools, playgrounds and trails. The future Tallgrass development will add about 4,000 residential units to the area, anchored by a town center and a new school through the Joshua Independent School District.

Burleson schools earn high marks
The highly rated Burleson Independent School District serves the area. The district's top-rated Burleson Collegiate High School stands out as the No. 1 public high school in Johnson County, according to Niche. Families can apply to Schools of Choice within the district, which include arts, environmental science and STEAM academies. Open enrollment also allows for inter- or intra-district transfers.

Many residents commute to Fort Worth for work, according to Cassandra Spann, co-leader of the CSpann group at The Real Estate Power Houses with her brother Michael Gonzalez. But Burleson has its own workforce of over 24,000 employees and about 3,000 businesses, including Walmart, the Burleson Independent School District and several manufacturers. Commutes to Fort Worth are between 15 and 20 minutes according to Spann, but rush hour traffic can double that time. Traffic is often worse heading back south into Burleson, Spann says. Interstate 35 offers a convenient route to the city. Locals usually drive, but there is a Burleson park-and-ride stop with bus service into Fort Worth through the Trinity Metro system. Healthcare, including emergency care, is available in Burleson at Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South.
The sprawling city of Fort Worth has many districts such as Downtown, Southside, and University.
In the Fort Worth Stockyards, western wear stores sell everything from cowboy hats to boots.

Locals shop, dine and gather at Old Town
"Old Town Burleson is the heart of the community, with Mayor Vera Calvin Plaza serving as its living room," Phillips says. Old Town has several shops, restaurants and spaces to gather. "It's a space where you'll often find families playing games, enjoying ice cream or relaxing on picnic blankets. It's the perfect spot to experience Burleson's community spirit," Phillips says. The seasonal Burleson Farmers Market offers fresh produce, baked goods and other items from over 80 vendors. "A lot of locals have businesses they run from home where they make crafts and food," says Kaylan Baucom, a local Realtor with HomeSmart. "This farmers market gives them a chance to sell their goods."

Scenic views, outdoor adventures at Bailey Lake Park
Green space is easy to come by with more than 20 parks in town. Bailey Lake Park is one of the crown jewels, with pink crape myrtles and walking paths surrounding the 8-acre lake, plus an 18-hole disc golf course. Bartlett Park is another larger community park with a recreation center, soccer complex, splash pad, aquatics facility and playground. The long-standing Russell Farm Art Center hosts guided history tours, art classes and some of the popular town events, including Night of Lights and Christmas on the Farm in December.
