Why Live in Candlewick Lake
Candlewick Lake is a private security-gated community centered around its namesake lake, a hub for water sports. “A lot of people move here for the lifestyle and the affordability,” says broker Rion Tovar-South of Weichert Realtors-Tovar Properties, who lived in Candlewick Lake from 1997 to 2017. “In Chicago, $400,000 doesn’t get you much. Here, you get a lakefront property.” It’s common for people from Chicago and other communities to purchase homes here, especially along the water. “About 50% of lakefront homeowners live here permanently,” Tovar-South says. “The other half use it as a weekend getaway.” The Candlewick Lake lifestyle is much like a resort, where locals also have access to a private beach, recreation center and golf course. The lake is lined with waterfront homes built between the 1980s and early 2000s, including ranch-style, A-frame and New Traditional houses ranging from $290,000 to $425,000. Each of these properties has a grassy backyard with trees and a private boat dock. Aside from the A-frames, similar houses are located along the community’s winding streets and cul-de-sacs on quarter-acre lots, ranging from $160,000 to $450,000. These home prices are on top
