Affectionately called Catty by locals, Catasauqua is a former seat of iron and steel industry along the Lehigh River whose historic houses and storefronts are home to a modern generation of close-knit neighbors and local businesses. “Catty’s a walk-to-the-barber-shop kind of place,” says Mark Molchany, an associate broker at RE/MAX Unlimited Real Estate who specializes in Lehigh and Northampton counties. “It’s a quaint little town with a lot of community-oriented ties.” From cheering on the team at Catasauqua High football games to hanging out at the local pub, Catasauqua residents enjoy a sense of small-town community within 5 miles of Allentown.

Catasauqua Park, YMCA and George Taylor House
Bisected by a fork of the Catasauqua Creek, Catasauqua Park is the community's primary park, home to grassy fields, paved walking paths, playgrounds and pavilions, a skate park and athletic courts for basketball, tennis and volleyball players. The park’s pool is a hit in the heat of summer but has been open irregularly over the past few years. Indoor athletics facilities and community classes draw members to the Suburban North Family YMCA off Walnut Street. The boroughs of North Catasauqua and Catasauqua frequently collaborate on seasonal celebrations like the Halloween Parade, which invites residents and local businesses to dress up and impress the judges on a parade route ranging from Race Street up to North Catasauqua Park. On Thanksgiving morning, community pride runs rampant at the annual Turkey Bowl face-off between Catasauqua High School and Northampton High School.
