Rio Vista has a strong sense of community, evident in the way residents decorate their homes for the holidays and take advantage of the area’s walkability. “The community has been well taken care of,” says Michael Valerio, a local Realtor with HomeSmart, who has over 20 years of industry experience. “You can tell people have pride of ownership there.” Full of modern Mediterranean- and Spanish Colonial-style houses, Rio Vista also has a location close to Interstate 10 and a pair of shopping centers. The bulk of Rio Vista’s houses were built from the 1980s onward. The Verano subdivision to the north has some of the area’s newest construction, much of it springing up in the last few years. Regardless of age, houses share similar features, including stucco facades and terra-cotta roofs. Lots are compact, often between one-tenth and one-fifth of an acre, but many properties come with striking views of the San Jacinto Mountains to the west.
