Governor's Square Homes for Sale

Governor's Square is a suburban community close to the shopping and social club centers in southern Charlotte. Traditional, Colonial Revival and ranch-style homes were built in tree-canopied subdivisions between the late 1950s and early 1970s. Townhouses and condos are also available. Homes tend to be slightly smaller and less expensive than nearby communities like Myers Park and Foxcroft. Governor's Square has an active voluntary homeowner’s association that organizes events like new neighbor picnics and Fourth of July celebrations. Three highly rated public schools, Sharon Elementary, Alexander Graham Middle and South Mecklenburg High, serve the community. The private, local kindergarten-through-12 institution, Charlotte Country Day School, also earns high ratings. Carmel Road Park and McAlpine Creek Park offer playgrounds, sports courts and trails within several miles of home. Residents also keep active by joining the Harris YMCA and Foxcroft East Racquet and Swim Club. At Foxcroft East Shopping Center, locals grab drinks at Foxcroft Wine or Caribou Coffee. SouthPark Mall’s many luxury retailers, Whole Foods and Harris Teeter all a short drive away. Bus stops line Carmel and Fairview Roads, but most residents drive 7 miles to Uptown Charlotte's major corporate hubs. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is 14 miles away.
