A lot of people move there for the access and schools. Chevy Chase Village is almost fully residential, though the southwestern corner of the neighborhood has The Collection at Chevy Chase, an outdoor shopping center with popular restaurants and retailers. Locals can order crabcakes and cocktails in a dimly lit, retro-inspired environment at Clyde’s of Chevy Chase or indulge in sushi rolls at Sushiko. Connecticut Avenue takes residents 2 miles north to Bethesda and 6 miles southeast to Downtown Washington, D.C. They can also drive east to merge onto Interstate 495 to travel throughout the greater DMV area. As an incorporated municipality and special taxing area, Chevy Chase Village offers residents additional services that they won’t find in nearby neighborhoods. “In the Village, they pay for it with the taxes, but they have their own police force, which will watch your house for you when you go out of town,” Margolis says. The village has an independent recycling and trash collection, and locals can stay up-to-date by reading The Crier, the neighborhood’s monthly newsletter. New residents can pick up a welcome packet at the communications center and schedule a meeting with the chief of police to learn more about the neighborhood’s public services.
