Quieter Chicago neighborhood
Montclare is a quieter suburb in the northwest part of Chicago, but it has access to major shopping and public transportation. “The neighborhood is off Harlem Ave, which is a business central type area with a lot of shopping and restaurants,” says Al Rodriguez, Associate Broker at RE/MAX City. Outside the businesses, residential streets have friendly neighbors and a mixture of housing options. “Montclare is a small area; it’s not high-end,” Rodriguez says. “It’s a walkable area. It’s a place where people can walk their dogs. It’s mostly family-oriented cause the concentration of single families.” Residents can also take advantage of being close to Chicago’s public transit system with Pace bus stops and the Metra stations.

Shop at the Brickyard
Dining in Montclare offers a mix of trendy spots to longtime favorites. Mr. D’s Shish Kabobs is a hidden spot where their steak and shish kabob sandwiches are neighborhood favorites. Reuter’s Bakery has been making decorative cakes and savory baked goods like croissants and sweet rolls since it first opened its doors in 1927. Geo’s Pizza is a neighborhood favorite for its signature thin-crust pizza. Residents can do most of their shopping at the Brickyard Mall. The plaza contains major big box stores, including Target, Marshalls and Home Depot. Weekly groceries can be bought from the Aldi or Jewel-Osco in these plazas. Residents can also shop at the Harlem Irving Plaza, two miles north. This shopping mall provides over 100 retailers, including brands such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Best Buy and Hobby Lobby.

Riis Park for outdoor fun
Montclare residents get many choices for neighborhood parks. While Riis Park is outside the neighborhood on N Narragansett Ave, it receives traffic for its size and amenities. “Riis Park is fairly big. There’s a pond and a running track for jogging,” Rodriguez says. “People walk to the park and take their dogs. In the winter, kids and families go there because of the hill, which is good for sledding.” Kids also enjoy its waterpark and swimming pool. The park also provides residents with team activities and aerobic classes. Rutherford Sayre Park is a 14-acre park in the southern part of the neighborhood. Here, locals exercise in the fieldhouse and gymnasiums, and neighborhood kids can participate in the arts and sports programs. Bell (George, Jr.) Park is a 5-acre park that provides a six-week summer camp program and several sports fields.
Montclare athletes can play some soccer on the turf or grass at Riis Park.

Montclare is centrally located between Interstate 90 and 290; drivers can pick up 290 for a 13-mile ride to downtown. Then, Interstate 90 can connect to O’Hare International Airport, 10 miles away. Travelers access nonstop flights to nearly 160 cities. Commonly, residents can hear the planes flying over their neighborhood.

I haven't experienced any major crime occurring in this neighborhood/area aside from maybe one robbery back in 2005 (neighbor's house was robbed).

There are two malls nearby. The Harlem Irving Plaza and The Brickyard Mall. Being malls, they have several different businesses which requires a need for workers. You just have to look around for openings.
