Neighborhood-feel in western Chicago
Known for its suburban-like appeal and proximity to downtown Chicago, West Town is on the rise. “It’s one of the most up-and-coming areas in Chicago, offering a neighborhood-feel with both new construction and the historic Chicago Brownstones that the area is known for,” says long-time local Realtor Matt Laricy, Managing Broker at Americorp Ltd. With a Crime CAP Score of 4, the same as the national average, Chicagoans flock to West Town for its family-friendly environment compared to other areas more downtown. Homeowners take advantage of the highly rated schools, the newer properties and the know-your-neighbor feel upheld through local events like Dancing in the Streets and the West Town Winterfest. And with the Blue Line minutes away from the heart of West Town, day trips and commutes downtown are highly accessible. "It’s the epitome of urban living,” says Peter Nicieja, Real Estate Broker with Compass Real Estate. “Residents enjoy being within walking distance of the city's best restaurants, shops, professional services, and sports stadiums — For those seeking a dynamic lifestyle, there's no better place to be than here."

New construction and Chicago Brownstones
There’s a lot of contrast within the architecture here, from condos in sleek modernist buildings to brick townhouses and the historic remains of worker’s cottages that have been renovated internally. “The neighborhood has a very residential feel,” says Santiago Valdez, local Realtor at Relux International. “It has some of the oldest buildings in the city, a low density of units and tree-lined streets that contribute to the relaxed environment.” While single family homes exist in West Town, most housing options here are condos. Homeownership is less common here as renters primarily dominate the area. West Town offers a variety of home styles from single family contemporary homes and American Foursquares to signature Chicago Brownstones and multi-family condominiums. With a median sales price of $640,000, homes here range from the low $200,000s for a one-bedroom condo to upwards of $2 Million for a six-bedroom contemporary single family home. Homes here are often situated on smaller lots and feature ornate fencing and barriers for added seclusion from neighbors. “West Town is the cool kid on the block right now, attracting buyers with newer properties, larger outdoor spaces and quick commutes into downtown,” says Laricy, a Chicago native with over 20 years of real estate experience.
