As interstates developed around Colombus in the 1960s and ‘70s, neighborhoods formed where new roads opened the area. That’s how Pine Hills developed — at the intersection of interstates 70 and 270, creating one of the first East Side neighborhoods, according to Realtor Cephas Pearson with Key Realty. Today, the neighborhood attracts homebuyers who want to get into the real estate market with either a single-family home or townhouse. "Pine Hills is a great place for first-time homebuyers," says Realtor Byron Diaz, who sells houses in the neighborhood with Nexthome Experience. "It's an underrated neighborhood, and as Columbus inventory gets more limited, I think people are going to appreciate Pine Hills more." Pine Hills' homes reflect the era when the highways were constructed. "Most of the homes there were built in the 1950s and '60s," Pearson says. The architectural styles are typical of the time, including ranch-style homes, some with full basements, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and over 1,000 square feet of space.
