Did you know that Dania Beach was once known as the tomato capital of the world? Broward County’s first city has grown from its agricultural roots to a bustling blend of coastal and urban spaces, filled with many attractions, shops and miles of sandy shores. Flor Rodriguez, Realtor with United Real Estate, says, “Dania Beach is very centrally located. Everything is close by with major highways nearby. The biggest draw is the beach, but you’re also 5-10 minutes from the airport and the casinos.”

With all of the amenities throughout the city, the initial appeal for prospective residents is easy to see and reflects the growing population. Many newly built high-rise condominium buildings and apartment complexes have sprouted due to the increasing population, adding to the residential pockets with single-family homes. Rodriguez adds, “People love the friendly neighborhood feel… A lot of homes have great water views and canal access for people who own boats.” Houses range from cozy 2-bedroom properties in the mid $200,000 range up to $1.2 million for luxury waterfront homes.

One of the biggest attractions of Dania Beach is, obviously, the beach. Dania Beach consists of long stretches of sandy beaches that are perfect for getting a tan or swimming in the clear blue water. The beach is also home to an extensive 900-foot pier where you can get your catch of the day or take in the views of neighboring Hollywood in the distance. Boat owners can dock at the Dania Beach Marina. There’s an abundance of outdoor recreation at your fingertips, whether you want to play a game of beach volleyball or go paddle boarding. If you want to grab a bite to eat, there are several eateries along the shores of the community, as well as plenty of nightlife options.

Feeling lucky? Head to The Casino @ Dania Beach, which is home to a world-famous jai alai court, slots and a poker room, among many other amenities. You can watch your favorite team play at the sports lounge or grab a slice from Pizzelato.

After a day at the beach, you can enjoy a meal with a view at Tiki Tiki, a popular spot for its waterfront location and coastal cuisine. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, there’s no better place for a scoop of ice cream than Jaxon’s. You’ll feel like you’re taking a step back in time with the circus-type setting at Jaxson’s, with plenty of menu items like popcorn, burgers and hot dogs as well. There are many shops and eateries around the community, including the many big box retailers at the Oakwood Plaza shopping center or Dania Pointe.

Getting around the area is a breeze with proximity to Interstate 95, which gives easy access to Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood. US Route 1 is also nearby, and various forms of public transportation, as well. Dania Beach is located just south of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, so some residents will get the occasional air traffic.

Parents in Dania Beach will likely enroll their children in schools in the Broward County Public Schools district, but there are also plenty of private school options as well. Some students will start their education at Collins Elementary before moving on to Olsen Middle School and South Broward High School afterward. South Broward has an overall B-plus rating from Niche, offering sports programs in the Broward County Athletic Association, the largest athletic conference in the county. Private school options in the area include Westlake Preparatory Academy, a K-12 school with a college prep program.

There is no shortage of things to do to spend your days in Dania Beach, giving residents a great blend of fun and relaxation just minutes away from the coast.
