Twin Towers
Suburban Neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio
Montgomery County 45410
Turn-of-the-century historic homes
Local homes tend toward a historic bent, with some constructed as early as the late 1800s. This, combined with the right skills and elbow grease, can make for stunning restorations at best and shuttered derelicts at worst. Cape Cods, bungalows, Craftsman and Stick style homes are the most common, with Colonial and Tudor styles occasionally appearing. Driveways are uncommon, as are sizeable front yards. Wide sidewalks connect most residential areas, making the community reasonably walkable. A fixer-upper Craftsman can start in the mid-$30,000s, while a renovated Stick style home can reach the mid-$90,000s. A bungalow with a fenced-in backyard and driveway will run in the mid-$100,000s.A quick commute on Route 35
U.S. Route 35 provides a direct route into downtown Dayton, located 2 miles northwest. Public transit is popular in the area, and locals use the Dayton RTA bus lines to travel all over the Greater Dayton area. Miami Valley Hospital is located 1 mile west, while the University of Dayton is located 1 mile south.Authentic Mexican at MD Antojitos
Chains and fast food like Wendy’s are popular in the area, while MD Antojitos provides authentic Mexican carryout with tacos, burritos and pupusas. Groceries and other necessities are available at Kroger, while shopping and retail therapy can be found at the Pinewood Plaza Shopping Center in Eastern Hills.Community gardens at Lincoln Gardens
The gently sloping hills of Highland Park are a popular spot for sports, picnics and sledding in the winter. At nearly 15 acres of vast open green space, this community park features a baseball diamond, playground equipment and a fenced-in dog park. Lincoln Gardens features a series of community gardens run by the Mission of Mary Cooperative, which rents out raised garden beds to locals so they can grow their own produce.Diverse communities, diverse schools
Ohio’s Open Enrollment policy states that parents can decide which schools are best for their children beyond designated school districts. A student could begin their education at Ruskin Elementary School, which has a C-minus and a student body that truly reflects the local community. “There are 21 different languages spoken at Ruskin—it’s that diverse,” says Leslie Sheward. From there, students can continue on to Stivers School for the Arts, which has a B-plus. The Miami Valley Childcare Development Center is currently under construction and will begin serving the preschoolers of Twin Towers and Bomberger in 2025.Twin Towers trunk or treat
The residents of Twin Towers have hosted a variety of neighborhood outings, including Easter Egg hunts, trunk-or-treats and movie nights. The neighborhood’s proximity to downtown Dayton also provides access to the city’s many signature events, including the Hispanic Heritage Festival, a celebration of Hispanic and Latino culture in September with music, art and food.Important to know
Twin Towers has several areas with a significant risk of flooding, including St. Paul Avenue and Xenia Avenue. All prospective homeowners are advised to pay careful attention to inclement weather and consider flooding insurance when purchasing a property.
