West Central Homes for Sale

West Central is one of Elkhart’s oldest neighborhoods. It’s just outside downtown and features a mix of late 19th- and early 20th-century homes, with Victorian, Colonial Revival and American Foursquare styles dominating the area. While some of these properties need repairs, infrastructure upgrades are underway, including a $14.5 million project to modernize stormwater and sewer systems in the area. While West Central is primarily residential, it is home to a Corner Stop convenience store and Michael’s, a local institution that’s been serving family-style Italian food since 1959. There are more shops and restaurants downtown, and Save A Lot is the closest grocery store. While there are no green spaces in West Central, the Geroldean Thursby Memorial Tot Lot and Langle Park are nearby. McNaughton Park is a bit farther away, though it offers a boat launch and splash pad on the Saint Joseph River. The Interurban Trolley Yellow Line connects West Central to Elkhart General Hospital and Mishawaka, while houses of worship like Grace Lutheran Church provide community support through food pantries and outreach programs.
