Less than 30 miles from Seattle, Snohomish Cascade offers a commuter-friendly suburb that “kind of feels like it’s out in the country,” explains Judee Sola, an agent with DR Horton’s Pacific Ridge. After selling dozens of homes in the Remington Ranch subdivision, Sola says, Snohomish Cascade is “quiet, family-oriented, and has beautiful views.”
Several subdivisions comprise the neighborhood, each with different amenities and price points. A narrow sidewalk connects homes in the Falls, and evergreen trees border most properties; meanwhile, sprawling yards and multi-car driveways remain notable features of Gold Creek. In Highlands East, houses sit closer together than in Gold Creek, but the community’s tree-lined entrance and tennis courts speak to its well-maintained grounds and ample amenities. The Aspens sits across the street from Highlands East, a subdivision characterized by its border of dense evergreen woodlands. Two of the newest subdivisions in Snohomish Cascade are Brasswood, a community of modern homes, and Remington Ranch—the mountain views only one of many draws for the newly built homes. Three-bedroom homes like those in the Falls begin at $635,000, while those in Gold Creek reach up to $1,295,000. Four-bedroom homes in the Aspens start around $715,000, while homes in Brasswood reach up to $1,180,000.
Part of the Snohomish School District, students gain access to the third-best school district in Snohomish County and attend all A-minus rated schools, according to Niche. Students begin at Totem Falls and transition to Valley View Middle, the seventh-best public middle school in Snohomish County. From here, students graduate from Glacier Peak High, a school with Career and Technical Education options like Agriculture Science and after-school activities like Future Farmers of America, Future Medical Professional and Impact Club.
For recreational activities, find a mix of indoor and outdoor activities within a few miles. Though subdivisions like Gold Greek and Highlands East include private parks and play areas, public options surround the neighborhood. With Willis D. Tucker Community Park bordering the neighborhood, gain access to hiking trails, basketball courts, dog parks and splash pads just a walk from home. The park also features an amphitheater that hosts live music during the summer and an activity center that hosts yoga and educational classes. For long hikes, find the Centennial Trail less than 7 miles away. “It’s a nice, long trail that goes through Stevens and up to Arlington,” Sola explains. If hitting the green is more your scene, practice your swing at the Snohomish Valley Golf Center, less than 5 miles away. The center includes a driving range, practice green and mini golf. If you get hungry while you’re there, grab a bite from the Valley Grill. During the winter, visit the Mill Creek Family YMCA to access an aerobics center, pool, weight room, gym and hot tub about 4 miles from home.
After you’ve had your fill of fun, take care of the essentials close to home. Just north of the YMCA is Silver Firs, a local shopping center anchored by Safeway. Within the plaza, find multiple eateries like Applebee’s, Subway, Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Nori Presto. If you’re looking for locally sourced ingredients to include in your favorite recipe, venture 4 miles away to pick seasonal produce from Bailey Family Farm from June to October. For access to national retailers like JCPenney and Sears, drive 35 miles to Westfield Southcenter and find over 140 stores. If the unexpected happens, find the emergency room at Swedish Mill Creek less than 7 miles away and the Animal Hospital at Murphy’s Corner less than 5 miles away.
Because of Snohomish Cascade’s proximity to major employers, many community members take Highway 9 or Highway 522 to commute to tech companies like Amazon, Google and Microsoft or utilize Route 96 to reach airplane manufacturer Boeing. With ramps to Interstate 5 less than 5 miles away, travel to Seattle, Bellevue or Everett proves simple. “They do have public transit, as far as the bus,” Sola says. With stops at nearby retailers, catch the 412 bus into Seattle or the 116 to head toward Bellevue or the airport, which is less than 40 miles away. For a taste of suburban life with a splash of rural beauty, make yourself at home in Snohomish Cascade.
