Community parks for family outings
Igliane says there are several parks throughout the neighborhood that are just for residents, connected by a network of walking paths that weave through subdivisions. Some of these paths lead to bridges over small streams that flow into a lake, where folks can try catch-and-release fishing. There are neighborhood courts for volleyball, basketball and bocce, and several picnic ramadas (an Arizona term for a covered, open-air shelter) equipped with BBQ grills for family gatherings; Pirate Park has a pirate-themed playground. On summer days when temperatures regularly top 100 degrees, the neighborhood’s splash pads are a welcome respite from the heat. Just west of the community, Gilbert Regional Park is the largest park in Gilbert, and features a 17-foot-tall playground with climbing nets, shade sails and a zip line. East of the neighborhood, the public 18-hole Power Ranch Golf Course and its training facilities are popular with golfers of all skill levels.

The Bridges at Gilbert homeowners association hosts events throughout the year, typically at neighborhood parks. “There are garage sales twice a year, movies in the park, Easter egg hunts and petting zoos,” Igliane says. There are also occasional mixer events at nearby Power Ranch Golf Club and fun traditions like holiday lighting contests in October and December. Annual city events are often held at neighboring Gilbert Regional Park, including the Gilbert Days Festival in November — a two-day celebration full of live music, local businesses and lots of games and food trucks.
Shopping and dining around the neighborhood
Shopping and dining are located in the neighborhood’s northwest at Higley Village Shops. There are several small businesses, medical offices and local restaurants, ranging from fast-food at national chains like Dairy Queen and Starbucks to authentic Thai cuisine at locally owned Ta Lew Thai Bistro. Across East Queen Creek Road, there are several more restaurants and shops at Higley Pavilion, including Lowe’s, Goodwill and Dollar Tree. Kurt Joiner, a Realtor with My Home Group Real Estate and a Gilbert local for almost 20 years, recommends the aptly named Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers at Higley Pavilion, an Arizona-based sports bar chain that’s popular for its laidback atmosphere and comfort food menu. “I’m kind of a country boy, so Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers is my favorite. It’s not too fancy, but it’s a happy medium,” Joiner says. Safeway is the closest grocery store, located about 3 miles east. Downtown Gilbert’s about 10 miles northwest, where folks can find lots of locally owned shops, restaurants, bars and venues.
