Greensboro, North Carolina, is otherwise known as ‘Tournament Town’, ‘The Boro’, or ‘Gate City’. It is densely packed with residences to accommodate its approximately 125,000 households, many of which dwell in condominiums. The condos in Greensboro range in size from a modest 500 square feet to 1500 plus square feet, and echo the southern style architecture that characterizes much of the city.
The city can be very broadly divided up into a few large segments that separate its residential, commercial and industrial areas. The Downtown area, the Coliseum area or the Four Seasons, and the Airport area are the largest of these sections. There are some residential districts scattered throughout both the Four Seasons area and the Airport region, while many more lie outside the bounds of the city center.
Greensboro’s location in the heart of central North Carolina and the Triad region has made it an epicenter for business. Its economy relies on those businesses which are headquartered in the city, such as the Honda Aircraft Company, Lorillard Tobacco Company, Kayser-Roth, VF, Mack Trucks, International Textile Group, Volvo Trucks of North America, and NewBridge Bank. Other major employers in Greensboro include Guilford County Public Schools, Cone Health, the City of Greensboro, United States Postal Service, Guilford County, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and the High Point Regional Health System.
