Shopping at The Village
Residents don’t have to go far to find popular dining and shopping destinations. The Village in Downtown Grosse Point features popular shops like Ann Taylor Loft and Chico’s, as well as other locally owned spots like the Savvy Chic Boutique and Glitter & Scotch. Shoppers can leave their cars at the Village Parking Garage before walking down Saint Clair Avenue to the Sidecar Slider Bar. Throughout the year, The Grosse Pointe Public Library hosts various events that bring in families from around the neighborhood. “We have an annual event in May called Books on the Lake where we bring in national authors to an outside venue to fit everyone,” Martin says. “But we put on so many events here, and people sometimes have to be on waitlists to get in.”
Local artists bring their best work to The Grosse Pointe Art Fair every May at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Families also team up and head downtown to show off their mini golfing skills in the Main Street Mini Masters tournament every April. Some families also visit Ghesquiere Park in Grosse Pointe Woods for Winter Fest events.
