"It's close to the airport, and you have the Palmetto Expressway, Ronald Reagan Turnpike and Interstate 75 all right there. So, it doesn't feel as far west as it is." Running daily errands is as convenient as getting around town, thanks to the shopping plazas off West Okeechobee Road that contain big-box stores, chain restaurants and services.

Homes in Hialeah Gardens are primarily bungalows, bilevel or ranch-style with three or four bedrooms, and Spanish- and Mediterranean-inspired designs. Single-family homes mostly comprise tract housing, with bilevel, ranch-style and bungalow style houses most common. Prices for these properties typically range from $450,000 to around $630,000. Zoned schools and charter options offer strong academic programs
Miami-Dade County Public Schools serves the city, offers controlled open enrollment and rates an A-minus on Niche. The schools zoned to the city are B-rated West Hialeah Gardens Elementary, B-plus-rated Hialeah Gardens Middle and B-plus-rated Hialeah Gardens High. The high school boasts the nation's only distinguished NAF (National Academy Foundation) Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Students in this program may pursue interests and even get footholds in jobs such as agricultural technician and veterinary assisting. Alternatively, Hialeah Gardens students may apply to the local, tuition-free charter school Mater Academy Elementary, rated with a B-plus on Niche, and finish out their K-12 career via B-plus-rated Mater Academy Middle and A-minus-rated Mater Academy High or A-rated Mater Performing Arts and Entertainment Academy.

Bucky Dent Park is a popular outdoor spot for its skate park, pools with waterslides, athletic fields, sports courts and more. Westland Gardens Park is also packed with amenities, including a pool, splashpad, multipurpose fields, a playground and the Hialeah Gardens Botanical Garden, which features 45,000 plants. "People love taking their kids there," Roman says. "It's a family park, and it's very popular." There are also pocket parks in and around Hialeah Gardens that are perfect for quick dog walks, scenic picnics and afternoon playdates.
