Park-like vibe in south Kansas City neighborhood
While some neighborhoods contain a park, Willow Creek has a park-like vibe throughout. Mid-century homes in this south Kansas City neighborhood sit on third-acre lots on forested streets. It's easy to get lost in nature in Willow Creek, where a pedestrian trail winds through wide open grassy fields and woods along Indian Creek. While the neighborhood retains loyal, longtime residents, it's also drawn a new crowd in recent years. In 2020, the engineering firm Burns and McDonnell completed the construction of its world headquarters in the neighborhood, which accommodates over 4,000 employees. Affordability is also a factor here, with a median single-family home price of $265,000, compared with $280,000 in Waldo. "It's attracting a lot of younger people because the more popular neighborhoods have gotten too expensive," says Tammy Sanford, Realtor with Compass Realty Group and life-long Kansas City resident.
