Why you may want to live in Concord

Located along the shores of Fort Loudoun Lake, Concord offers a mix of historic charm, modern development and natural beauty in the heart of West Knoxville. Once a bustling railroad village in the late 19th century, the community still features a small pocket of Victorian architecture, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, most homes belong to newer subdivisions. With scenic parks, lively neighborhood events and easy access to Knoxville’s shopping and dining, Concord feels like a retreat from the city without sacrificing convenience.

Education for Concord families

Concord is zoned for some of Knox County Schools’ top-rated options, like Northshore Elementary and Farragut High. The district also offers school choice through an open enrollment program with numerous magnet options. The Webb School of Knoxville is one of the top private institutions in the city, serving students from prekindergarten through 12th grade, and it's just minutes from Concord.

Neighborhood housing prices and availability

You’ll find a variety of single-family houses with architecture that spans centuries. “There are about four blocks in the old village area with Victorian architecture, and the rest is modern infill,” says Deborah Saunders, a Realtor with Wallace Real Estate who has lived in Knoxville since 1993. “The housing stock isn’t super old, and there’s new development toward the lake.” The most affordable options, which include smaller Colonial Revivals, ranch-style homes and Cape Cods, sell in the upper $200,000s to the lower $500,000s. Larger Colonial Revivals and contemporary mansions on the water can reach $1 million to $6.5 million. These properties often have private docks, pools and long horseshoe driveways.

In Concord, you can easily access nature. “There are good public parks, and people also just use their lots, as well,” Saunders says. When you want to get active, visit:

  • Concord Park, a 500-acre space with everything from nature trails and a public golf course to boat clubs and beaches
  • Carl Cowan Park, which also provides river access and athletic facilities
  • Admiral Farragut Park, known for its 9-hole disc golf course
  • The Davis Family YMCA for indoor activities
  • Fox Den Country Club or Willow Creek Golf Club, two private golf facilities within minutes of Concord

What the community’s like in Concord

Living in Concord comes with a close sense of community. You'll see neighbors out for walks and kids playing basketball in their driveways. There are also events, and Concord Park is a hub for gatherings. At the park, Saunders says, “There are bands, a Fourth of July celebration and a lit loop at Christmas that feels like a Santa’s grotto.” Other events at Concord Park include nature camps for kids, water sport workshops and the Boneanza Easter egg hunt for dogs.
