Tennessee is located in the Southeastern United States and is bordered by Kentucky and Virginia to its north, North Carolina to the east, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to the south, and Arkansas and Missouri on the west side. The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Ridge and Valley Region, along with the Cumberland Plateau, Nashville Basin, Gulf Coastal Plain, and Highland Rim, make up the six geographical locations of the state. Tennessee holds the records for having the most caves of any state in the nation with over 9,600 recorded thus far.
The great state of Tennessee has no shortage of activities to keep you busy - or busy relaxing - all year long. In the eastern part of the state, you can visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It's the most visited national park in the U.S., so if you want something a little more low-key, you can hike the Appalachian Trail or spend a day at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
