Why Live in Lake Elsinore Hills
From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, Lake Elsinore's mineral springs and lake recreation drew swarms of tourists each year. Although tourism dropped off in the late 1900s, the city is regaining popularity and rapidly expanding — and relatively low housing costs are attracting more year-round residents.
The Lake Elsinore Hills neighborhood, which sits across Interstate 15 from the lake itself, was mostly undeveloped before 2000. Now the rolling landscape is increasingly full of curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs, houses and condos. “It’s still growing — a lot of communities are being built,” says Alton Jones, a Realtor with eXp Realty of California, who has lived in the Inland Empire for more than 10 years. “Up in the hills, you can’t walk to the lake, but on a clear day there are beautiful views of the lake.” Most homes in the community were built after 2000, although a handful date back to the 1980s and ‘90s. Architecture styles vary slightly between developments, and Mediterranean-influenced designs with neutral, stucco exteriors are most common. Landscaping often consists of sun-tolerant shrubs, palm trees and decorative rocks.
