“It has the energy of a business district even though there’s a lot of people living here,” said Christopher Tobin, owner of Tobin HVAC and a resident of the Union Square neighborhood for three years. “Nothing feels cookie-cutter, each building has a unique feeling. And people are really thorough about keeping up with their property. The people who live here seem to really want to be here.”

Hiking is only minutes away
The greater Denver area is known for its outdoor lifestyle, even among urban areas like Union Square. At Union Square Park, residents can explore 10 acres of paved paths, visit the iconic bronze cougar statue watching over the playground, or relax on a bench and observe the spraying fountains set in the McIntyre Gulch. The iconic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, the venue for outdoor concerts from April through November, is about 7 miles to the west. To the north, Union Ridge Park offers a short, one-mile walking trail as well as the best sledding hill in Lakewood. At the southern end of the community, the Green Mountain Trailhead’s shoe-worn and rock-studded trails lead into the foothills that can make a visitors forget how close they are to the city. “I do a lot of hiking, so I wanted to live somewhere that I could get to the trails quickly,” Tobin said. “There are paved trails all over, and the trailhead is within walking distance from my front door.”
