A North Jersey borough since 1922
Lincoln Park is a relatively young borough of North Jersey, founded on March 11, 1922, out of a portion of historic Pequannock Township. Pequannock was founded by Dutch farmers in the 1690s, and this massive agricultural community was divided into several new boroughs from 1804 to 1923, with Lincoln Park being the penultimate community to form. This borough, named for President Abraham Lincoln, retains much of its rural character, as large swathes of its boundaries consist of nature preserves and other untouched lands. Its housing stock reflects the town’s history, as the Boonton Turnpike is lined with small family homes dating to the 1920s, while the town’s side-streets are home to Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, and ranch-style homes built during the suburbanization of the 1950s. These homes sell for between $400,000 and $500,000, significantly less expensive than the county average, and marking Lincoln Park as a viable alternative to its more expensive neighbors.

Boonton Turnpike is the center of activity
Lincoln Park has a small-town feel, and most of its retail attractions are concentrated within two blocks of the Municipal Complex on the Boonton Turnpike. This borough is home to its own ShopRite, which sits beside Anthony Francos Pizza, another fixture of the community due to its New York-style pizza and its flavorful calzones. 202 Italian Bistro brings out the flavors of Italy’s northern regions, specializing in seafood dishes and offering an atmosphere combining fine dining with a sports bar feel. A hidden gem of this borough is The Empanada Times, a small corner shop featuring illustrated white walls and serving authentic Latin American fare from empanadas to Cuban sandwiches and make-your-own rice and protein dishes.

This close-knit community is awash with parks, including Boro Park, where sports facilities from tennis and squash courts to baseball and football fields can be utilized just next door to the public library. Golf lovers can test their swing at the public Twin Willows Par 3 golf course, a 10-hole course inviting players of all skill levels to enjoy its lush greenery. While Morris County may be located far inland, the Lincoln Park Community Lake provides Lincoln Park residents with a beautiful venue for summertime relaxation. The lake is popular for paddleboarding and kayaking in addition to swimming, while the beach itself occasionally hosts summer concerts and other events to bring the community together.
