Why Live in Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire quite literally has deep roots. Not only because of its 1957 incorporation but also its protection of old-growth trees, symbolized by a leaf in the village’s logo. Though the economic boom of the following decades welcomed significant commercial and residential development, the small Des Plaines River community maintains a healthy balance of amenities and natural immersion. “Lincolnshire is a nice place to live for people looking for an active lifestyle,” says Mayor Elizabeth Brandt. “It’s a very hands-on, volunteer kind of community.” The high-reaching canopies define the village’s residential landscape. “We have a strong tree preservation ordinance, so you can’t cut a tree down without a permit,” says Lincolnshire resident and village manager Brad Burke. “The shade is great, but the beauty is even better.” Half-acre and above lots feature homes built from the mid-to-late 20th century onwards in a variety of architectural styles. “The housing stock is broader than many of the surrounding areas. We have single-family homes, but you’ll also find condominiums and townhouses here,” Burke says.
