Upscale homes and wooded views define Pinnacle Valley
Making up Little Rock’s northwestern edge is the aptly named Pinnacle Valley, set just below a densely wooded but scenic bluff with the Little Maumelle River jutting into its northern sector. Exuding vibes of a permanent retreat, with every home well-kept and oozing unstudied elegance, this predominantly residential neighborhood has made a case for itself as one of the most desirable places to live in the entire metro area. “It’s upscale and out of the way,” says Christy Robinson, Realtor for Keller Williams Realty. “But never too far from where you need to go.”
Newer homes with French-inspired designs
Pinnacle Valley has some of the newest homes in the area. Most of the housing stock was built from the late 2000s onward, typically in the form of French-inspired traditional homes set on narrow lots, making for small but fenced yards. That space is made up for, though, with the extensive, covered patios accompanying most properties, which also usually come with two-car garages, steep driveways and homeowner’s association fees. Asking prices tend to start around $275,000 and eclipse $425,000.

Highly rated public schools with flexible learning pathways
National Blue Ribbon School Don Roberts Elementary, rated an A-minus by Niche, awaits just a couple blocks south of the neighborhood, serving kindergarten through fifth grade with a math and literacy-focused curriculum. Students then feed into Pinnacle View Middle School, also rated an A-minus. They finish at Hall-West High School of Innovation, which is yet to be graded on Niche. Hall-West students can opt into a traditional, blended or completely virtual learning environment and select their own pathway based on their interests, ranging from digital marketing to horticulture technology. Both schools sit side by side in neighboring Valley Ranch.

Hike with views of Pinnacle Mountain
If you want to enjoy the scenery outside your own yard, immerse yourself in it at Williams Kirsch Preserve, just a walk up the river. Spanning 234 acres of fields and forest, this undeveloped and mostly flat land is often used for hiking, biking and fishing, with panoramic views of Pinnacle Mountain in the distance to add to the idyllic setting. Just off the opposing side of the Little Maumelle sits The Mighty Bluebirds, a facility for a wide range of children’s athletics, from soccer and equestrian to tennis and baseball. Complexes are available for each sport, and many teams or individual members have been known to go on to win state championships and national tournaments in their respective sports.

Local restaurants and grocers on Cantrell Road
Though the neighborhood is mostly residential, Cantrell Road snakes through the southern end, offering a line of locally beloved restaurants. One of those is The Croissanterie, which started after the owners began selling their homemade croissants at local farmers’ markets in 2019 and demand soared. Now open with a shop of their own, they sell all-day breakfast like the AY Magazine award-winning biscuits and gravy served with two fried eggs and burgers like the Sweet Heat – topped with pepper jack, jalapeno pineapple jam, grilled pineapple, hot sauce, red onion and lettuce. Now, you don’t have to go to Paris to get a taste of authentic French cuisine. To whip up your own creations, head just a few blocks east to Kroger Marketplace.
