Westgate is less than 2 miles from several shopping centers and malls. Albany Square has Hobby Lobby, PetSmart and Publix. Albany Mall features department stores like Dillard's and Belk. "Though the mall isn't a shopping hub, the surrounding area is. There are many restaurants and franchises, and Northwest Albany is where things are concentrated," says Tiffany Vicks, Realtor with The Real Estate Concierge and long-time resident who has been selling houses for over six years. Wyndham Chase offers acres of land
Homes rarely hit the market in Westgate. However, large 4-acre lots are for sale at around $25,000 per acre in the gated community of Wyndham Chase, where traditional-style homes generally exceed 6,000 square feet and sit far from the road surrounded by trees. Tuxedo Place is a gated subdivision of brick condo buildings with two- to three-bedroom units. Bradford Court is also gated and offers New Traditional brick houses with two-car garages. Prices can range from $200,000 to over $800,000. There are also houses that are not in gated communities, such as those along Meadowbrook Lane and Hawthorne Drive. Some parts of the neighborhood are prone to flooding during storms.

Doublegate Country Club is a few miles away
Doublegate Country Club is a private, members-only club 3 miles from Westgate that offers adult and junior tees and 12 dog-leg holes. The neighborhood is served by the Dougherty County School System. Lake Park Elementary School has a B grade on Niche and offers gifted programs and a Medical Arts Magnet Academy. This competitive program offers hands-on learning opportunities with registered doctors and nurses, allowing students to earn high school and college credits. The program continues at Merry Acres Middle School, which has a C grade on Niche. Westover Comprehensive High School also holds a C grade and has award-winning athletics and STEM programs. Albany State University is a public, four-year historically black college; its main campus is located 6 miles away and its west campus is 2 miles south of Westgate.
