An established neighborhood close to shopping and the Sandias
Eldorado Heights is a neighborhood in Northeast Albuquerque. "It's an established neighborhood in a favorable school district. All of the infrastructure that you would want is there, with shopping close, parks close, gyms, restaurants and brewhouses," says Shane Dolinski, an associate broker and team lead with Realty One of New Mexico. Another benefit of living in Eldorado Heights is its proximity to the Sandia Mountain Range. Dolinski, also on the board of directors for the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors (GAR), says many people take advantage of the hundreds of miles of foothills' trails for walking, hiking and cycling.
Homes in Eldorado Heights from the 1960s through the 2000s
Eldorado Heights has homes and townhouses built from the 1960s to the 2000s. There are brick ranch-style and split-level homes, Pueblo-style homes with adobe walls and flat roofing and homes with Spanish-influenced elements like clay tile roofing. Driveways and attached garages are standard. Additional features may include patios, courtyards and kiva fireplaces.
Home inventory can be limited: In mid-January 2025, there were two active listings. In the prior 12-month period, the median price was $400,000. Prices typically range from the high $200,000s to the high $500,000s.
El Dorado Square Shopping Center, restaurants and grocers
El Dorado Square Shopping Center is in the northwestern part of the neighborhood by Montgomery Boulevard Northeast and Juan Tabo Boulevard Northeast. Great Harvest Bread Co. has fresh-baked goods and donates to local organizations like The Storehouse New Mexico, one of the state's largest food pantries. Windmill Tea House serves boba drinks and other custom beverages. Other businesses include a pharmacy, nail salon, anime and manga shop and a gun store. In the northeastern part of the neighborhood, there's Howie's Sports Page, a bar with pool tables and plenty of televisions for watching the game. Sprouts Farmers Market, Walmart Neighborhood Market and a Smith's grocery store are within a mile of Eldorado Heights' homes.
The Bridges on Tramway commercial development is nearby
The Bridges on Tramway commercial development is a popular spot about 2 miles from Eldorado Heights. "It's called 'The Bridges' because there are these really iconic bridges there on Tramway Boulevard. You've got Boxing Bear Brewery on the corner with an outside patio with an unobscured view of the Sandia Mountain Range," Dolinski says. The Bridges' selection of eateries includes Tako Ten and Thai Street.
John Baker Elementary, Hoover Middle and Eldorado High
Eldorado High School earns an A grade from Niche. "They do really well with cross country, and their tennis and volleyball programs are exceptional as well," says Dolinksi, whose son attends the high school. Nearby, to the south, John Baker Elementary School and Hoover Middle School are side-by-side. They both receive B-plus grades. Albuquerque Public Schools has magnet school opportunities as well.
The Holiday Park Community Center and Sandia Foothills trails
The closest community parks are Hahn Park and Holiday Park, which includes the Holiday Park Community Center. Cedarbrook Trail, Embudito Trail and a scenic overlook are within a couple of miles of Eldorado Heights. It's about a 7-mile drive north from the neighborhood to the Sandia Peak Tramway, the Americas' longest aerial tramway. Albuquerque's most famous event, the International Balloon Fiesta, is held in October at Balloon Fiesta Park, about 11 miles northwest of Eldorado Heights.
A free bus system, Tramway Boulevard and nearby interstates
Public transportation includes the free bus system, ABQ RIDE; there are stops on Juan Tabo and Montgomery boulevards. Running along the east side of the neighborhood is Tramway Boulevard Northeast, the area's primary north-to-south artery. The quickest routes to Downtown Albuquerque — each a drive of about 12 miles — are via Tramway and Interstate 40 or Montgomery Boulevard Northeast and Interstate 25. Downtown has the Alvarado Transportation Center. Rio Metro's New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter line and Amtrak trains are available. It's about 15 miles from Eldorado Heights to Albuquerque International Sunport, the regional airport.
