Established neighborhood near the Sandia Mountain foothills
Enchanted Park is an established Northeast Heights neighborhood with access to shopping, dining and highly rated schools via major local thoroughfares and is also close to the foothills of the looming, amber-colored Sandia Mountains. While the foothills are only a short drive away, residents have pedestrian access to them along neighborhood trails and walkable, sidewalk-ed streets. “It’s such a great place to hike. There are hundreds and hundreds of trails that go up to the Sandia Crest,” says Shane Dolinski, a real estate agent with Realty One of New Mexico. “There are a lot of meetups where people go on hikes together.”
Pueblo-style homes and seventies slump block ranchers
Mature, leafy trees shade the neighborhood's ranch-style homes and their xeriscaped front yards, neatly filled with mulch, gravel or pavement. Sidewalks and semi-gridded streets make navigating to the neighborhood park or coffee shop on foot easy. Ranch-style homes built between the 1960s and the 1970s with slump block often come with paved patios. Nostalgic Pueblo-style homes and stucco ranchers that strike the balance between the two are sprinkled in between, fetching between $300,000 and $400,000.
Many homes in Enchanted Park feature brick exteriors.
Some homes in Enchanted Park have grass lawns in the front yard.

Renovated neighborhood parks and Sandia Mountain foothill access
Part of the neighborhood’s name comes from Ross Enchanted Park, which takes up almost 5.5 acres with two new shaded playgrounds, a swing set and a soccer field. Less than a mile away, Lynnewood Park has another playground, two tennis courts and a basketball court. Its athletic amenities were repaved in 2020 when new walking paths and a more sustainable irrigation system were also added to the green space. A walking and cycling trail connects both parks and continues east toward the sandy trails of the Sandia Mountain foothills. The trails carved into the Sandia Foothills Open Space are lined with wildflowers and prickly pear cacti, leading to sweeping vistas of the city below.
Lynnwood Park features a beautiful path and grass just minutes away from Enchanted Park.

Local bars, big-box retailers and authentic Italian food
The neighborhood is convenient to a few local bars, like Dragonhorn Tavern, which seems to draw a regular crowd of pool players. On the other side of Enchanted Park, the Tatted Bee Brewhouse offers live music and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight screenings in an industrial interior. It’s also next door to Mario’s Pizzeria Albuquerque, which was founded by first-generation Sicilian-Americans in 1972. The old-school eatery serves pizza made from scratch following family recipes straight from Sicily, as well as 12 different pasta dishes and other classic Italian meals. The neighborhood is also home to an Albertsons Market and surrounded by big-box retailers, like Lowe’s Home Improvement, Harbor Freight and Ross Dress for Less.

Desired high school offers career technical and fine arts courses
Local children may begin their public education at Matheson Park Elementary School, which scores a B-minus grade from Niche, before moving forward to B-plus-rated Hoover Middle School. Eldorado High School earns an A, and Niche ranks it as the eighth-best high school in the Albuquerque Public Schools district. “Eldorado is the second high school where people want to be in Albuquerque Public Schools,” says Russell Payson, an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Legacy. It offers nine different career and technical education pathways, including construction, transportation, distribution and logistics, architecture and construction as well as education and training. Artistically inclined students can take four years of ceramics or three years of photography, while those who gravitate toward the performing arts can choose from four different vocal ensembles.
Students can attend Hoover Middle School who's program helps prepare them for high school.

Central location and access to major Albuquerque thoroughfares
Enchanted Park is located between four major local thoroughfares. “It’s a central location, and you can get to anywhere fairly easily,” Payson says. Menaul Boulevard and Candelaria Road lead west past several major shopping centers, while Tramway Boulevard is the largest easternmost thoroughfare in Albuquerque. Both Tramway and nearby Juan Tabo boulevards connect to Interstate 40, which takes commuters to downtown Albuquerque, about 13 miles away. Free ABQ RIDE buses stop throughout the neighborhood on routes that continue throughout eastern Albuquerque and toward downtown.
