Builder’s legacy lives on in Mossman
The Mossman neighborhood of Albuquerque may appear buried in the northeast heights of the city, but this small community carries a name with an almost legendary ring to it. “The neighborhood was named after the builder, Clyde Mossman,” says Austin Wolff, real estate broker with The Lovely Home Company, who has 10 years of experience in the area. “If you live in Albuquerque, Mossman is synonymous with a well-built home. He only built in Albuquerque, and when I get a listing built by Mossman, it’s always the first thing I put in the description.” The neighborhood is centrally located, with solid midcentury homes perched conveniently for access to shopping centers, recreation amenities and commuter lanes.

Midcentury Mossman homes are prized for quality
Lawns in Mossman are often xeriscaped to accommodate native plants, but lots also feature drought-resistant leafy trees that give the area a vibrant splash of color in the autumn. Sturdy red brick ranch-style homes are common, along with Pueblo-inspired Southwestern houses with flat roofs and stucco siding. “We’re talking about quintessential midcentury modern homes, with high-pitched ceilings and double-sided fireplaces,” Wolff says. “They were mostly built in the 1970s and 1980s, and their inspections are nearly always flawless.” Home prices can range from $150,000 to $735,000, depending on square footage, build year and number of bedrooms.
