Airview Terrace is bordered by one of Alexandria, Louisiana’s main throughfares, allowing residents easy access to the wealth of shopping malls and restaurants along MacArthur Drive. In addition, to its central location newcomers are drawn to the five-block neighborhood for its relative affordability. “Most houses there sell for around $150,000. That’s lower than the average for the city,” says Carissa McDaniel, a Realtor with EXP and an Alexandria native. “It’s an older neighborhood, so some of the homes haven't been updated.”

Airview Terrace is wonderfully walkable
Homebuyers will find an abundance of ranch homes built in the 1960s and ‘70s. The spacious quarter-acre yards are kept neatly trimmed, but landscaping is minimal beyond the mature pine and oak trees found throughout the neighborhood. Many of the streets are lined with sidewalks, making it easy for residents to go for a jog or walk the dog. “It’s a quiet, established neighborhood,” McDaniel says. “A lot of people who live there have lived there for more than a decade.” Prices range from $125,000 to $200,000. “It’s one of the more affordable neighborhoods in Alexandria,” McDaniel says. “There are investors flipping some of the homes. A few of them have been remodeled.”

There are almost too many to name,” McDaniel says.

Locals look forward to annual downtown Alexandria celebrations like Alex Winter Fete and Alex River Fete. “Alex River Fete is in May and Alex Winter Fete is in December,” says Katelyn Coombs, marketing coordinator with the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, who grew up in the area. “At the Alex River Fete, we have dragon boat races and art vendors and shopping vendors and live music. Alex Winter Fete has the same set up, but instead of dragon boat races there’s outdoor ice skating and Santa Claus.”
